If you’re an athletic, adventurous outdoor enthusiast, off-trail snowmobiling may be just the winter activity for you. And if you are visiting the Lake Tahoe area but can’t bring your own sled with you, this is the perfect opportunity to tune up your riding skills.

Our Ultimate Tours go deep into the rugged Sierra Nevada above Hope Valley, California. Professional snowmobile guides – expert in off-trail, backcountry riding – lead small groups of riders. With hundreds of square miles of terrain to explore, no two tours are alike. Elevations range from 7,200 feet at base to peaks of 10,000 feet and above. Mix in canyons, bowls, rivers, creeks, meadows, and alpine lakes, and you’ll discover some of the most beautiful and challenging scenery in North America. The area also has some of the snowiest winters in the country. That means snowmobile season starts early in the year and stretches well into spring.

You’ll meet your guide in Hope Valley for a brief orientation and safety talk, then head out for a few quick warm-up turns. After that, the ride is limited only by the terrain and your group’s ability. Typical Ultimate Tours last approximately two hours including the orientation and rest breaks – which you’ll welcome. Groups are intentionally kept small, usually with no more than seven machines per guide. Longer tours are available. Call for pricing.

For the maximum off-trail riding experience, consider booking multiple tours stretched out over a few days. You’ll feel your confidence build with your skill, have a good night’s rest, then be ready to apply what you’ve learned on the next day’s ride. These custom snowmobile vacations can be built to your specifications. Box lunches or sit-down meals in the backcountry are no problem and we can arrange early morning or twilight rides if you like.

If you like the sound of an Ultimate Tour but are travelling with others who want something a bit more tame, set them up with a scenic snowmobile tour. These stay on groomed trails and are geared toward seeing as much beautiful backcountry as possible.

Ultimate Exclusive Tours

You can also book an Ultimate Exclusive Tour just for you and your friends. You’ll have the undivided attention of a backcountry snowmobile master on a tour tailored exactly to your riding abilities. This is a fantastic choice for experienced riders looking to turn up the volume on their riding or for beginners who want to get off to the best start possible. Ultimate Exclusive Tours require a four-person minimum. Longer tours are available.
